Naloxone for Response to a Suspected Opioid Overdose
What is it?
Naloxone, often referred to by its brand name, Narcan, is a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
How does it work?
Can counteract the life-threatening effects of an opioid overdose. Since most accidental overdoses occur in a home setting, it was developed for first responders, as well as family, friends, and caregivers—with no medical training required:

Designed for ease-of-use in the community setting
Inhalation not required
Requires no specialized medical training
How do I get it?
McHenry County Department of Health, walk in anytime Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. No appointment needed and no identifying information taken. Or visit one of MCDH’s four free harm reduction vending machines:
